Send MTC over lan

Send MTC over lan

Postby michelebus » 07 Mar 2017, 02:54

Hi,

I just downloaded CopperLan and looks like a pretty cool application!
Just a quick question. "Clock" stands for MIDI clock? is it possible to send MTC (MidiTimeCode) over lan to a second computer?

Thanks!

Hi,

MTC rely on MIDI command F1 which is not channel related, and so sent to the "Sys/Clk" output stream from the MIDI->CopperLan bridge, and received from a CopperLan->MIDI "Sys" input stream.

So yes, you can send MTC through CopperLan between 2 computers by creating a full virtual MIDI cable or just connect the "Sys/Clk" from computer A (V)MIDI port to a "Sys" input on computer B (V)MIDI port.

Thanks it worked!
I managed to send MTC between the two DAW in very few steps. For now I am using two Macs, but in the future I want to buy a PC, and I am pretty sure this will work between PC & Mac as well. :D
