Hi Sam,
About DHCP:
Since CopperLan is not IP-based, it doesn't rely on DHCP to work.
As with any IP related protocol, DHCP and CopperLan are ignoring each other and can coexist peacefully on the same physical network.
About Ethernet switch:
An Ethernet switch is only needed if you connect more than two computers. Otherwise, a direct cable between the two should suffice. Older computers may require a "crossed cable" instead of a "normal" cable.
As soon as you have more than two Ethernet things to connect, you will indeed need a switch.
Any switch will do. CopperLan does not require specific Ethernet switches.
