CL and VirtualBox

Postby mrfusion » 26 Feb 2014, 22:26

Hi,
To use my old MIDI-hub 'workhorse', the Roland UM-4 or Super MPU-64, I had to find a huge workaround in Windows 7 due to no more updated drivers. And then I found CopperLan!

So this is what I have set up;

Windows 7, 64-bit (Host)
Set up a Virtual Machine Oracle VirtualBox with Win XP (Guest)
Installed drivers for the USB Midi device. And it works internally in the VM environment.
Installed CopperLan Manager
Made all connections for the different Midi ports 4IN/4OUT to and from CLM.

I can use my different outboard synths as 'motherkeyboards' to play soft synths as well as all outboard gear synths.

Next task is to try to reconnect my old outboard audio card and install it in the VM environment too.

Thanks for a great solution!
/Nicolas

We're happy to see that you have found a solution with CopperLan.
We are more used to complains and requests; so this is a pleasant change ;)

If anybody else is happy with CopperLan, please tell us. :arrow:

Cheers from the whole CopperLan team
